Shapes that take a collection and render it. What tells them apart is how much of each record the reader gets to see, and what they can do with it once they see it.
Tables
Rows and columns, server-rendered or paginated by the browser, with typed cells — links, actions, icons and dates that keep counting.
Keeping up
The three ways a collection hears that what it shows has changed — an app event, a live source, or polling — and what each one is for.
Lists
A list that is searched and filtered from its own header, for a set a reader browses rather than scans.
Properties
Key and value, for one record rather than many — the detail panel of a thing already chosen.
Bars
One record named in a single line: an icon, a title, what qualifies it. The row a search result, a member or a file is rendered as.
Tree
A collection whose records contain each other, loaded a level at a time, in the panel an explorer ships as.
Chat
A collection read backwards and added to from below, live, with a composer that grows as it is written in.
Files
A file explorer the width of a page, fed by a loader, and one folder drawn by the server.
